The What Works Clearinghouse screened more than 3,500 studies on writing instruction and identified a set of high-quality research that met their rigorous standards. From this body of evidence, they developed clear, actionable instructional recommendations grounded in what has been shown to improve student writing
outcomes. In this session, those evidence-based recommendations will be unpacked and made practical, with concrete examples, classroom-ready strategies, and opportunities to consider how they can be applied immediately to support students’ writing development.
