Definitions:

CILA: Community Integrated Living Arrangements. Individuals live in a home in the community with 24 hour supervision. Usually 4 to 8 people in a home.

ICF/DD: Facilities that provide 24 hour supervision and training in self-care and independent living skills. Must be screened by DDS and meet requirements of the Illinois Department of Capitol Development Public Aid and Illinois Department of Public Health.

INDEPENDENT LIVING: An individual chooses an apartment or house in the community and maintains him/herself through employment and/or support systems.

ROOM AND BOARD SETTINGS: An individual chooses to live with others in a semi-supervised setting. Pays a fee to a landlord that includes housing, utilities and meals.

SHELTER CARE HOMES: An individual chooses to live with others in a setting that is supervised 24 hours a day.
